"We want to appeal to everyone from hard core collectors to new wine fans just learning to appreciate age-worthy and older wines, and show them the benefits of buying and storing such wines before they are gone forever," he says. "San Francisco Wine Center is designed for people who like to explore new wine experiences and appreciate access to tiny production wines and talented winemakers."

ABOUT > Brian McGonigle

Founder and President Brian McGonigle is an enthusiastic collector of both domestic and imported wines, and he travels widely in his pursuit of them. Just recently he was in New Zealand and Oregon sampling new Pinot Noir releases. He regularly conducts wine tasting events and is a featured speaker at industry and corporate conferences. In 2003 he was an American Executive Leadership Award winner.

McGonigle operated several restaurants and designed and managed wine programs for top nightspots in Washington, DC, Aspen and San Francisco. He spent over ten years in senior executive roles with the largest wine and spirits companies in the world including Diageo, Constellation Brands and LVMH. Brian has helped build some of the world’s leading wine brands including Sterling, Franciscan, Casa Lapostolle, Quintessa, Dom Perignon and Ravenswood. As a national distribution network authority he has managed developed business with many of the world's largest retail, hotel and restaurant companies including Trump Casinos, P.F. Chang's, Hilton Hotels, Safeway, Harrah’s Entertainment, Costco, Whole Foods and The Cheesecake Factory.

In 2004 McGonigle had the epiphany that he was an entrepreneur more than a
corporate type and he launched his own innovative wine venture. Indie Wine Company has focused on production, importation, distribution and sales of handcrafted artisan small production wines.

McGonigle, who received his BA in Economics and Political Science from Colgate University, also played college soccer, and later coached and played semi-pro soccer for Baltimore and Washington, DC teams. Though he's pretty much retired his cleats, he still likes to coach his two young children. The family spends time away from team sports on the ski slopes or hiking and camping.

His favorite wine? "I am a fan of well made wines from around the world and I love a good story behind the people, place and passion that make each winery unique. Any wine that is balanced with great mouthfeel and length, and over delivers for the price, has a place in my cellar."
